Volunteer Firefighting

Iqaluit's firefighting crew is comprised of both career and volunteer firefighters, both of whom work side by side to respond to fire-related emergencies in Iqaluit. Being a volunteer firefighter is a challenging but rewarding experience. Volunteer firefighters are essential to providing the city with a full firefighting force.

Once you are trained as a volunteer, you’re tasked with the same duties as would be expected of a regular member while on calls. Training is a three-stage process that includes classroom theory and hands-on training, and requires 12 hours a month for six months.

There is currently an open call for volunteer applicants; anyone interested is encouraged to apply. You can also fill out a volunteer application form and take it to the Fire Hall.
