EARLY DETECTION OF FROZEN WATER LINES SAVES TIME AND REDUCES COSTS
The City would like to remind home owners that they are responsible for monitoring their homes for any sign of frozen water pipes, and to notify the City’s Public Works and Engineering Department as soon as possible. For rental units, residents are asked to let their landlord know of any issue regarding frozen pipes.
Once contacted, the City will be able to determine if the issue is a part of the City’s infrastructure, and a City responsibility. If the problem occurs on the residents property, the City will be able to guide residents in contacting a plumber or other contractor to deal with the issue immediately.
Early detection and action can not only ensure that the problem is dealt with quickly, and prevent the frozen pipes from spreading, but will also help to reduce costs for both the resident and the City.
Below please find contact information for Public Works and Engineering:

For after hour urgent issues contact City Dispatch at 979-5650.
In the event of a water interruption, residents are reminded to shut off their water circulation pumps, as well as ensure that the pump is turned back on once the water is reinstated. Residents may also wish to turn on their heat traces to prevent freezing to their service lines.
Residents can also prepare for unplanned water disruptions by storing water in containers in a cool dark place and keeping spare water jugs on hand.
The City thanks you for your support and understanding.
